We work with physicians throughout their career - from residency to retirement.
How to pay off student loans? How much to save? How much disability insurance do you need? We'll help you get your ducks in a row, understand the decisions you need to make, and empower you with the information you need to make them confidently.
Our team of certified financial planners are black-belts at getting to the heart of what you want in life, and creating a financial plan to help you achieve it.
Life is short. And the clock's ticking. The question that's foundational to every conversation we have with our client is: what do you want out of life... and how can we use your finances as a tool to help you achieve it? we have a unique and powerful framework for making your financial future clear and understandable.

Our promises
Here are our commitments to our clients:
In medicine, positive patient outcomes result from a sound, evidence-based approach to treatment. We approach financial planning and investing in the same way.
Our recommendations aren’t based on opinion, conjecture, or feel. Instead, our approach is steeped in research and supported by financial science– which we infuse into your plan and portfolio.
Does it frustrate you when you see physicians taking on too many patients just to bill more RVUs?
Similarly, it peeves us when advisors spread themselves too thin for the same reason.
For this reason, our advisors’ practice size is capped. Each only works with a limited number of households.
It’s why we call our firm Equitta. We run a business, so we’re going to charge for our services. But we’ll always do so in a way that is fair, transparent, and on the up-and-up.
We’ve designed our fee structure in a way that caters to early-career physicians… without any of the funny business that you see elsewhere in the financial industry.
OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM
James was drawn to financial planning early on in his career, where he quickly discovered how in-demand an academic, analytical, evidence-based approach to planning and investments was–especially among physicians. James spent a number of years working for other financial advisory firms. But after realizing that many established firms were not set up in a way that catered to early-career physicians like his pediatric oncologist wife, he started Equitta in 2017 to build the type of firm he’d want taking care of his wife and the other physicians in his life. When he’s not helping physician clients get ahead of the financial game, you'll find James spending time with his wife and their 3 kids, tending to the chickens they’re raising in the backyard, brushing up on his Mandarin, or amusing people with one of the 5 card tricks he knows.
Ryan is a practicing physician within a large, dynamic facial plastic and reconstructive surgery program he has built in Cincinnati, OH. Prior to his surgical training in Ann Arbor and Baltimore, Ryan was a collegiate athlete and later a middle school teacher and coach on the Cheyenne Reservation. Early in his surgical career, he founded a consumer health company, which now operates across 150 international retail locations–all while studying business and finance at MIT. Outside of work, he and his wife April are endlessly amazed by their high-energy three year old identical twin boys. Ryan is excited to bring his unique medicine and finance background to the table to help Equitta’s physician clients achieve financial health and peace of mind.
The son of two healthcare professionals, Dan started college as a pre-med major… that is, until shadowing day in the cadaver lab did him in. Since the professional pivot during college, Dan has spent his career in different corners of the finance world, working in wealth management, investing, private equity, and employee benefits. Along the way, he met his now-wife Courtney, who besides being an amazing wife and mother, is a wonderful radiation oncologist (and clearly the smarter of the two). When Dan isn’t focusing on building one of the only national financial advisory firms focused on early-career physicians, he can be found chasing around his rambunctious son Ollie, cleaning up after his mischieveous dog Wally, and geeking-out on business news and philosophy literature.
A what? We’ll talk through the financial questions, headaches, and goals that are top of mind for you. If we can help, we’ll tell you exactly how. If not, we’ll help you find someone who can. We never try to sell. We just try to help.
